 There are a lot of worlds to enjoy and celebrate in Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur, home of the famous Sta. Maria Church & Convent. Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, is a third-class municipality consisting of thirty-three barangays. It lies in the central part of the province of Ilocos Sur. It is bounded on the north by the Municipality of Narvacan; San Esteban on the south; the Cordilleras on the east; and the wide expanse of the South China Sea in the west. Santa Maria is like any of her sister towns in the Ilocos region. It lies on a plain with a climate that is warm but tempered by the sea and land breezes that blow over the community during the day and night time. During the stormy months of June to September or sometimes in the months following, the area is drenched by heavy downpours which are brought by the rain – carrying clouds and the strong winds. Santa Maria is known for its historic and ancient Church structure, the Santa Maria Catholic Church or the Asunta Parish Church. Its Location and architecture are considered unique in the whole archipelago. It is now included in the world heritage List of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in December 11, 1993. Aside from the historic church, Santa Maria boasts of the Majestic Pinsal falls and beautiful beaches along Barangay Suso, Nalvo, Lingsat and Bia-o which attract foreign tourists and local excursionists. |

Sta. Maria to launch new website |

 The Municipality of Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur is pleased to announce that the launching of its new web site will be soon scheduled. The upgraded and updated site is the result of months of analysis, design, and programming courtesy of the Contineo Website Solutions. The website is built upon a robust database-driven website with a graphical user interface reminiscent of the town. According to Mayor Thelma Florendo: “Our goal is to provide our visitors with a virtual experience that is as compelling as a visit to the actual town.”
The new website features an interactive, up-to-date calendar of events. Users can now also easily access articles, news stories and everything about the Municipality of Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur. The site will also feature a discussion forum where citizens of the municipality now residing around the world can congregate to discuss, or to simply say “Hi!” to each other. A photo gallery of the whole town is also in place. |

Screening will be on December 13,20, 2008 and January 3 and 10 (Saturdays), 2-5 P.M at Zensho Japanese Restaurant, Tomas Morato, Quezon City. Screening at the provincial capitol, Vigan City will be on January 9, 2009 Friday, 1 P.M for provincial entrants. Winner will get 50 thousand cash. Talent scout of the winner will get 15 thousand cash. Talent should bring pictures. Finals will be in Vigan City. |
